The Tree Seeker app from Aecern is an innovative and technologically sound way of collecting data on area trees. The app is used for identifying a tree by photographing and observing the bark, examining leaf placement, shape and margins, as well as incorporating the information into a QR code. The QR codes will then be attached to the appropriate trees. With a generic QR code reader app on a smartphone, other students, parents and visitors to the property will be able to read the information previously gathered with the Tree Seeker application. This app incorporates scientific observations, GPS technology, identification and classification and the sharing of that information by QR coding.
Data captured on this app is automatically uploaded to your students online Aecern Data Hub at aecern.org, where it becomes the foundation of an authentic environmental sciences learning experience.
